Lemon Balm Growing Season In India

Lemon balm can be grown year-round in India, with specific planting months varying by region. In North India, starts in February to March, while in the South, it can be grown throughout the year.

How To Grow Lemon Balm In Pots

Lemon balm is a fast-spreading plant, so growing it in pots is the best idea. You can sow lemon balm seeds in any pot or grow them by transplant method; it grows well in both ways. To grow lemon balm from seeds, select a pot or grow bag that is 30-38 cm wide and deep with well-draining holes. The optimum temperature for germination of lemon balm seeds is 18-21°C.

Lemon Balm Seeds Sowing Method

Take a pot or grow bag, fill them with soil and any compost then sprinkle the lemon balm seeds over the soil and cover the seeds with a thin layer of soil as the plant needs light to germinate. Water the soil deeply through a watering can, and put the pot in a sunny spot indoors or outdoors. Lemon balm seeds germinate in about 5-10 days, they may germinate early or late depending on the growing conditions.
If you have grown lemon balm in a seedling tray then after seeds germination when seedlings are about 5-10 cm tall then, you need to transplant them into big pots. Do not add extra fertilizer otherwise, the plant will lose its flavor.  After transplanting give proper water to the plant and try to keep the soil moist. The most important thing is not to over-water or under-water otherwise the lemon balm plant will start withering.

Fertilizer For Lemon Balm Plants

Lemon balm plants do not need fertilizers for growth, although you can add any compost during planting.
